How to submit a self-meter read
Gas
If your gas meter read has been estimated, there's no need to worry – any discrepancy between the estimate and your actual usage will be corrected on your next actual bill. However, if you would prefer an accurate reading for your invoice, self-meter reads can usually be submitted through your gas distributor. We are unable to accept self-meter reads for gas directly.
To submit a self-read, follow the instructions for your distributor below:
- Australian Gas Networks: Submit your self-read through gasmeterreads.com.au. Read the instructions here.
- Multinet: Submit your self-read by sending an email to Multinet directly. Read the instructions here.
- Ausnet: Ausnet does not accept self-reads for gas meters under any circumstances. If you need an actual meter read to be taken, please contact Ausnet directly.

Electricity
In Victoria, most households have a smart meter which sends accurate meter readings to us remotely. Therefore, self-meter reads cannot be accepted for smart meters.
